STONEHOUSE DESIGN STATEMENT
Purpose of the Design Statement
This document has been written:
for residents - to provide guidance for keeping alterations in sympathy with the character of local buildings;
for developers, designers, architects & builders - to appreciate what is acceptable to the Town’s community regarding new or modified building works;
for Stonehouse Town Council - to support its responses to development proposals referred by the Planning Authority;
for the Local Planning Authority - as supplementary planning advice to the Stroud District Local Plan.
It does not remove the necessity to seek planning permission, if required by the Local Planning Authority.
STONEHOUSE HEALTHCHECK
The Healthcheck report is part of a process devised by the Countryside Agency to enable towns to assess their strengths and weaknesses and give them valuable information in planning for their future. Completing a Healthcheck is a vital process for towns like Stonehouse, as it can be used to demonstrate need to those agencies with sources of funding. A great deal of work has gone into the Healthcheck report, largely done by unpaid volunteers.
The document paints a detailed picture of the town in 6 sections:
· Geography (explanation of the area covered)
· Snapshot (an overview of the town)
· Worksheets
· TA - Transport and Accessibility (including roads, public transport, walking and cycling)
STONEHOUSE COMMUNITY PLAN
After many months of consultation and research, Stonehouse Partnership have now published the Community Plan for Stonehouse which is available to view in the Town Hall, Stonehouse Library or click on the link above to download the plan in pdf format. It sets out a Vision for the long-term future of Stonehouse based on what local people have said they would like Stonehouse to be like in the future.
